Tips to choose the right perfume

When choosing a perfume and its fragrance, it is always a good idea to determine which types of perfume fragrance and the combination of scents you prefer and then see which base notes they contain before making a decision. You can learn more about perfume ingredients like Anthamber that are used to make perfumes in order to get a better idea of which ones you think will suit your style and taste. Sometimes, depending on your own skin chemical makeup, it can enhance or diminish the smell of the perfume fragrance. It can also be altered if you have a certain chemistry that does not match the scent’s mixture.

Choose the perfume notes

The notes of the perfume determine their overall scent. The three parts of a perfume are called top note, middle note and base note. Notes work in combination to create an overall smell of the perfume. Some perfumes are considered floral type and contain different scent notes like rose, gardenia, or geranium. Some perfumes may be seen as fruitier type. They have base notes of citrus or apple smells. Exotic perfumes will have spicy notes like star anise or cinnamon. Musk perfumes have a heavier smell and tone. Other kinds of perfumes have smells like pine or leather-based notes.

Choose a concentration

Perfume fragrances come in four different levels of concentration. As the concentration of the fragrance gets higher, the price usually gets higher as well. Typically, perfumes with high concentration have a strong or powerful scent that lasts longer. These kinds of perfumes can be costly, but if you think it suits your personality, it is worth the money. The highest concentration of fragrance is called perfume or parfum. This level of concentration usually will last all day with just one application, usually to the wrists or pulse points.

The next lower level concentration is eau de parfum, which typically can lasts an average of six hours after usage. The third level fragrance concentration is eau de toilette and is considered affordable and is common in retail stores. It normally requires more than one area of usage throughout the day to get it to last. The fourth and lowest perfume fragrance concentration is eau de cologne,   which only lasts about two hours after usage.

Test the fragrance well

Before you decide to choose or buy any fragrance of the perfume, you should definitely do a few tests to ensure that it is something you will want to use and that you will enjoy. The key idea is to try a bit of the perfume fragrance on your skin. The human skin has its own unique code of hormones and pheromones that can noticeably alter the way a perfume fragrance smells. It is a good idea to spray a small amount of the fragrance on your wrists, wait a few minutes, and then smell the scent on your skin.
