Tips From An Actual Makeup Artist

Hello our beautiful dolls! This week I’ve decided to give you all some makeup tips from me, an actual makeup artist. Some of these are tips I’ve been given myself, most of them recent, that I wanted to relay to you all. There are a lot of things the internet tells you about makeup that simply aren’t true or aren’t good for your skin; which should ALWAYS come first. These are also things that can be applied to other things outside of makeup, general life tips that I’ve learned through working so closely with people. Don’t feel discouraged, I’m still learning too.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when doing their makeup is taping around their eyes. DO NOT TAPE AROUND YOUR EYES. Tape tugs at the delicate skin around the eyes and can speed up aging in that area. You can achieve the same clean & crisp effect by baking a line of powder from the corner of your eye to the end of your brow & letting it sit for a few moments then brushing the product away(This also makes the line more naturally crisp). Just because it does not physically hurt does not mean it isn’t damaging anything. However if you do tape around your eyes, please be careful when doing so. Trust me, the eye area is not one to mess with.

Speaking of the eye area, one of my biggest pet peeves is people using lip products on the eyes. Now yes, it can be done as long as it is done safely, not too much product is used, and it is removed gently. However, don’t put a lip product all over the lid, it is too harsh for such delicate skin & can cause wrinkles to show up earlier in your life. I’m serious, it’s not a joke.

Expensive makeup doesn’t always mean it’s good. In fact, most of the time they’re pretty on-par with a lot of drugstore price makeup.

Most Youtubers have not been to beauty school. That being said, most do have experience & are qualified to give professional advice however it is from a self-taught point of view.

As much as I wish you could, you cannot learn how to do makeup simply by watching a video. You Must Practice.

THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY TO DO MAKEUP
.

You do not need to line your lips when using a liquid to matte lipstick. (Kylie Jenner doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Trust me.)

EVERYONE DOESN’T HAVE THE SAME FACE SHAPE. Most things will need to be adjusted to your specific facial structure. Again, this is why there is no right way to do makeup. DIFFERENCES PEOPLE!

Glitter is ALWAYS a good idea.

Full coverage makeup is beautiful & you look so good. Don’t listen to those makeup prudes.

The right brows or eye makeup depends on your eye & face shapes. Again, not.everyone.has.the.same.face.shape.

Do NOT sell yourself short. Always offer what you believe you are worth.

There is no such thing as ‘daytime’ and ‘nighttime’ makeup. Where whatever look you want at whatever time of day you want honey.

Any color of eyeshadow can look good. (Yes, including red)

WHO CARES IF IT ISN’T BLENDED OR IT’S SMUDGED?? YOU TRIED & IT’LL STILL LOOK GOOD.

Expensive makeup isn’t always worth it. My entire kit is 75% drugstore & low price makeup, it ends up being way more worth it in the long run.

You don’t need to contour or bake. Don’t listen to celebrities.

Using the right brushes can make a world of a difference and they don’t have to be expensive.

These are all the tips I have so far. Like I said, I’m still learning too and I should take some of this advice as well.

Do you have any tips? Let me know below!
