Fashion, hair and makeup have a strong pulse down the runway while photographers capture the intensity of what was orchestrated by Michael Bui and his team backstage. Fashion makes a fierce statement with designer, Honee Persona, in the house.
Honee Persona is an artist, fashion designer and industrial designer. She designed The Killing Fields Collection, which was showcased this past weekend during LA Style Fashion Week at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
Honee Persona passionately states, “The Killing Fields Collection is about the genocide of the Khmer people, and the atrocities committed in the name of ethnic cleansing. We adorn ourselves in products that come from animals, like silkworms and sheep, etc… And ingest them as food. Yet, we ourselves are animals within who are capable of committing heinous acts for dominance and/or joy against the animals and our own kind. Let’s ask ourselves, who are the real animals?”
Michael Bui was the beauty director for Honee Persona’s Killing Fields Collection. Michael is the Director of Operations for The COMB. He is also a master hairstylist educator and body painter, and avant-garde styling specialist and beauty director.
Michael states. “In a world full of life, I am inspired by human nature… from fashion and beauty to the life experience we all have. Often it’s not the actual look that I am thinking about but it’s what was going on in a person’s mind when they’re doing something and the science of making things happen.”
I was invited to be a part of Michael’s team, which I loved. The talent and energy was amazing! We worked in synergy doing whatever was needed. We were also surrounded by photographers taking pics as we worked on a time crunch. It’s fun, crazy and exciting at the same time.
I love how the photographers capture what is happening backstage as well as skillfully maneuvering their cameras to get the best angles of models doing their sexy, long-legged catwalk—effortlessly—in the highest of heels.
I love being around people who think outside the box, and who make a difference in this world. Not by being manipulated by money or other people, but who truly live the life less traveled.
Doll, have you ever walked away from someone’s presence and done a double take because you knew something magical happened? Well, that’s what I experienced working with Michael Bui and Honee Persona this past weekend.
