Corrective Color and TLC For Your Hair!

Chloe came to me wanting a new look. During our consultation, she mentioned that she didn’t like the way her hair looked and how thick it was. On top of that, it took too long to style—she was always the last one to get ready while her friends were constantly waiting for her.

For a number of reasons, Chloe needed corrective color. I let her know that it would take more than one appointment.

She hadn’t been to the hairdresser for a long time because she wasn’t happy with the way it was done and didn’t want to have that type of experience happen again.

Chloe had a dark regrowth and color bands in different sections of her hair. So, I lightened her base two levels to soften it.

The mid shaft and ends of her hair were damaged, so I gave her several ‘TLC’ conditioning treatments to protect her hair. It took three different appointments to correct her hair color and give it the pop it needed.

I also added depth by combining tones to give her hair more dimension, so it wouldn’t look flat and give her a more youthful appearance.

Then, I had fun painting (balayage) her hair. Lastly, I gave her a ‘photo gloss finish. A photo gloss finish adds shine, enhances the color and protects the hair with a sealant by encapsulating each strand of hair.

As for the haircut, I first gave Chloe an undercut which took the weight out from underneath so it would lay nicely and not bulk out as before.

If you have really thick hair try an undercut. You will feel so free! Undercuts are versatile, so much fun and add a surprise element to your look.

I cut Chloe’s hair into a long bob with elongated layers, creating volume and movement. I left the sides of her hair angled longer. I also point cut the edges to add interest.

Be Brave

If you’ve had a bad experience in the salon don’t be afraid to try again. If you have damaged hair don’t give up. It’s important to take care of your hair, use excellent products and your hair, with time, will return to a healthy condition.

Remember, if the integrity of your hair has been compromised the new color may not look perfect, but you have to start from where you are. Be patient and be consistent with your hair trims and maintenance. You’ll get there, Sweetheart!
