Beauty Tips For When You’re Running Late

Hello loves! Ever slept through your alarm and planned to attempt to look decent but ended up settling with a bare face & a messy bun because you didn’t think you had the time? Well, here are some tips for when you’re running late so you still look ready for whatever the day throws at you.

Quick & Easy Skincare Prep:

One of my favorite ways to start any day is washing my face.

To start out, go in with a Micellar water to cleanse any debris from oils, sweat or leftover makeup from the day before you may have missed.

Once the face is prepped and ready to be cleansed, I like to go with the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Cleanser to give my face a quick pick-me-up.

Pat the face dry and apply your toner. A recent toner I discovered that has become my favorite is the Thayer’s Alcohol-Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera.

After toning, it’s time to moisturize. A long time favorite of mine is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. Apply moisturizer; especially for the daytime you want to go with a light moisturizer that includes SPF or solar defense because it is vital to your skin’s health.

Eye cream! Applying eye cream is essentially as it will reduce puffiness, minimize dark circles, and wake up the eyes. My go-to eye cream is the 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream. Apply to the undereyes ad the entire lid up the browbone. The skin in both these areas are very thin & sensitive and susceptible to wrinkles so taking care of them is vital.

And you’re ready to move onto makeup!

Go-To 5 or 10 Minute Makeup:

For me, I like to keep it sweet & simple when I’m running late especially because nobody has time to do a cut crease with winged eyeliner with only 20 minutes to get ready to be out the door. I start off with the Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector(SPF 30) and apply with a large, densely packed brush (i.e Morphe E1) for quick application. This is essentially a tinted moisturizer that provides sheer coverage to correct any imperfections on the skin. This is a beautiful product that evens out skintone, protects from UV rays, and gives a radiant glow to the skin.

Next, go in with a concealer depending on how much coverage you’re feeling like going for that day. I usually opt for the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to highlight and conceal the undereyes, tip & bridge of the nose, lids and cupid’s bow.

Set the concealer with a little bit on with Coty Airspun Translucent Powder or Maybelline Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder, being sure to leave the tops of the cheekbones unpowdered for a more natural look.

Time to glow! Using a liquid or cream highlight instead of a powder will give a more a natural ‘glow from within’ look. My favorite liquid highlight is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. Apply to the highest point of the face; tops of the cheekbones, temples, browbone, tip & bridge of the nose, inner corner of the eye and (for a more dewy look) the forehead above the arch of the brows up to the hairline.

Normally, I will personally leave the face at that and move on to brows & eyes, however I do know that some people prefer to add bronzer and blush to give more life to your face as needed.

Taking a bronzer suited for your skintone & preferred bronziness, apply to the hollows of the cheeks with a large brush, blending upward to the temples and around the forehead at the hairline. My preferred bronzer is the Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer.

Go in with a blush that complements your skintone that brings a natural flush to your cheeks. I would go with the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. Apply to the cheekbones at an angle blending towards the ears, bringing it slightly up onto the temples. For a more flushed look, bring the blush across the bridge of the nose essentially ‘connecting’ the blush on the cheekbones.

Time to open up those eyes! Using a flesh-tone eyeshadow, set the concealer we applied to the lids earlier on. Curl the lashes & apply mascara of choice. I went with a cult favorite, Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

Can’t forget the brows! This is where a lot of time gets taken up focusing on getting the brows lookin’ fierce. A good tip is to purchase eyebrow stencils and use the one that best fits your brows. Line it up to sit nicely over your brows & fill in with your favorite brow product. I went with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown. Once mostly filled in, remove the stencil and clean up any areas that may have gotten a little messy in the process. It’s optional to carve them out with concealer if they got a little too messy.

Don’t forget to set those brows with a clear brow gel (mine is a bit messy from so many uses) in place so they don’t budge! A great & super cheap brow gel is the Wet N Wild Megaclear Brow & Lash Mascara.

Last but not least, LIPS! Keep it sweet and simple with a bit of a nude gloss or cream lipstick & top it off with a clear or light lipgloss. I went with the Maybelline Color Jolt in Stripped Down paired with the Maybelline Color Sensational Gloss in Peach Glisten. You can also opt for a bit of your favorite chapstick.

And BOOM! You’re ready to be out the door lookin’ fresh & as if you put some effort into looking good when you really did that in under 10 minutes.

xoxo,
