Today we celebrate our independence and freedom to live, dress and speak freely. Artists freely express what they see. Fashion Designers like Coco Chanel created clothes for women to look stunning in, and at the same time, be comfortable. Vidal Sassoon liberated women by creating hairstyles that were cut into shape and hair moved freely—no more wearing curlers to bed!
“Makeup is no different than clothes and accessories. It’s embellishment for your face. And it also gives you creative freedom. You get to have the moment in front of the mirror every morning and give yourself self-love. You’re making yourself up beautiful, which is essentially self love.” —Michelle Phan
One of the looks we are seeing more and more, is the ‘no-makeup, makeup look’. We’re seeing it in the fashion magazines, street culture and beaches. As you walk through department stores, you’ll see displayed advertisements of models looking fabulous with the no-makeup, makeup look.
In these photos, Kate is wearing the no-makeup, makeup look. To create this bronzed summer look, I mixed bronzer and strobe cream into the foundation, making her skin look more dewy and sheer. Next, under her eyes, I formulated with a yellow, sparkling bronzer (Inglot) into the highlighter, creating a glow.
For her eyes, I used soft colors that were one to two shades darker than her natural skin tone. This way, her eyes looked more natural, yet not too plain. Inside the corner of her eyes, I used a white shimmer to highlight and open her eyes up. Also, I used a brown eye shadow on her lash line for depth.
For cheekbones, I used a shimmer powder from Alex Vogel called After Glow Meringue. www.alexisvogel.com
For her lips, I used Alex Vogel, Luminous gloss called Bee Stung, which has a beautiful shimmer of tones—peaches, pinks and gold. This gloss is amazing and one of my favorites!
Enjoy celebrating this day! We are all connected with God-given gifts to share. Encourage each other and dream!
